Nancy O'Dell's debut job in the broadcast industry was as a reporter/anchor at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. In later years, she was employed by WCBD as anchor for the morning show and as a crime reporter. When she was in Charleston O'Dell's stories about the relaxed approach police take towards DUI cases caused an State Law Enforcement Division investigation that resulted in State authorities issuing a more stringent directive regarding the instances.
